Internationally Trained Faculty May Now Declare Intent to Apply for Certification

Internationally trained dermatology faculty members may now declare their intent to pursue the ABD’s new pathway to certification by completing this form before July 31, 2024. By declaring their intent, they attest to specific criteria, which may be found here, along with other pathway details.

The international pathway is available only to faculty members with the academic rank of Assistant Professor or higher and who have had a full-time faculty appointment in a department of dermatology for at least five consecutive years at the same institution in the U.S. or Canada.

The ABD will review the declarations of intent, and if all criteria are met, these faculty members will be invited to submit a formal application, supporting documents and a $500 fee by Sept. 30, 2024.

The ABD intends to offer this pathway annually for qualifying faculty members. Those accepted into this pathway will be required to pass four CORE Exam modules and the APPLIED Exam to become certified.

Candidates have five years from the time of application approval to pass the four CORE Exam modules and the APPLIED Exam. The fee for the CORE Exam is $200. The APPLIED Exam fee is $2,250.
