What happens if I don’t participate in CertLink?

After January 1, 2026, diplomates who do not actively participate in CertLink, for whatever reason, risk having their certification lapse.

All diplomates who do not meet the passing standard by the end of their fourth year, will be required to take the Catch-Up Exam in Year 5. 

If you do not pass the Catch-Up Exam, your certification will lapse, and you will need to re-take the Catch-Up Exam the following year. You must pass the Catch-Up Exam in order to restore your board certification.
