The ABD Board of Directors has a new president, director-elect, and young diplomate observer.
At the Board’s June meeting, Tammie C. Ferringer, MD, of Danville, PA, was named President.
Olayemi (Yemi) Sokumbi, MD, of Jacksonville, Fla., was named Director-elect, and Chase Kwon, MD, of Chillicothe, OH, was selected Young Diplomate Observer.
On July 1, two diplomates started their first three-year term on the Board after being directors-elect for the past year. They are Andrea Zaenglein, MD, of Hershey, PA, and Jerry Brewer, MD, MS, of Rochester, MN.
Dr. Ferringer has been an ABD Director since 2016. She is the dermatopathology section head and fellowship director for Geisinger Medical Center.
Dr. Sokumbi is a Professor of Dermatology and Laboratory Medicine & Pathology at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. She also serves as the Medical Director for the Department of Business Development at Mayo Clinic in Florida and Director of Clinical Practice in the Department of Dermatology. She has been a volunteer on the Dermatopathology item writing committee since 2021 and was a member of the Strategic Planning Committee 2022-2023.
Dr. Kwon is a general dermatologist with Adena Health in Chillicothe, OH. He completed his dermatology residency at Emory University and was certified in general dermatology in 2022. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the Ohio State University and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology’s Professionalism & Ethics Committee.
Dr. Kwon was one of 63 applicants for the Young Diplomate Observer position on the ABD Board of Directors. He will serve a three-year term.
