SUBSPECIALTY CERTIFICATION IN CLINICAL AND LABORATORY DERMATOLOGICAL IMMUNOLOGY
The
requirements for subspecialty certification in Clinical and
Laboratory Dermatological Immunology (CLDI) are as follows:
- Prerequisites
- A
currently valid, full and unrestricted license to practice
medicine or osteopathy in either the United States or
Canada. The candidate may be denied certification if his/her licensure has been revoked, suspended, restricted, or surrendered in any jurisdiction - or if the candidate is subject to adverse licensure proceedings.
- Primary
certification by the American Board of Dermatology and
the satisfactory completion of at least one year of
training in an accredited fellowship in Clinical and
Laboratory Dermatological Immunology.
- Training
Information concerning accredited training programs in Clinical
and Laboratory Dermatological Immunology is available from
the office of the American Board of Dermatology. As stated
above, a minimum of one year of fulltime training in a Clinical
and Laboratory Dermatological Immunology training program
is required of all candidates (See "Essentials of Training"). It is the responsibility of directors of fellowships in Clnical and Laboratory Dermatological Immunology to make certain that their trainees file a preliminary registration form in the Board office by August 1st or within 30 days of the start of training.
- Examination
Candidates who have satisfied the above requirements are
eligible to apply to the Board to take the subspecialty
certification examination in Clinical and Laboratory Dermatological
Immunology.
- Appeals Process
An appeals procedure similar to that described for the
certification process in dermatology is available for candidates for
subspecialty certification in Clinical and Laboratory
Dermatological Immunology who were declared ineligible
by the Board for Clinical and Laboratory Dermatological Immunology or who failed the subspecialty examination.
Candidates submitting such appeals should contact the
Board for current additional information.
